Acne is a commonly occurring skin disorder, especially among teenagers. There are several acne remedies and acne scar treatment available.

Acne, and severe acne in particular, is a problem that the overwhelming majority of adolescents face. Without all the biological jargon, a basic definition for acne is a common skin disorder featuring red pimples. It is a result of changes to the skin pigmentation based on an inflammation of the sebaceous glands of the skin.

Though benign and relatively painless, acne can be an exceptionally horrible skin disorder. This is because of the potentially disastrous psychological effects that acne can have on the adolescent sufferer, depending on the severity.

Fortunately, in most cases acne can be cured without long-term scarring. Even then, acne scar treatment is also available.

Acne Causes

There are a few biological causes for acne. The most common cause for acne appears to be the onset of puberty and menstrual cycles due to the increase in hormone levels. That is why the condition is most commonly associated with adolescence.

Genetic predispositions to acne increase the likelihood of a person developing acne during adolescence. Indeed, if someone’s father or mother had severe acne during adolescence and subsequent scarring, the chances of that person’s acne condition being severe are significantly lifted.

Bacteria in the skin pores may induce an overreaction in sebaceous glands. This activity is also related to the onset of puberty and menstrual cycles.

Other factors such as psychological stress may aggravate an already existing acne condition.

Treatment for Acne and Acne Scar Treatment

There are a number of non-invasive acne remedies available. The most common acne remedy would be the application of benzoyl peroxide (also known as acne cream) to the affected area. Sometimes antibiotics are prescribed by the doctor for severe acne.

Natural remedies for acne include the application of aloe vera to the affected area. However, this treatment for acne is hardly ever used because individuals tend to prefer the application of benzoyl peroxide.

If individuals are in the unfortunate situation of sustaining acne scars, they might want to consider acne scar treatment. It appears that the more invasive the acne scar treatment, the more effective the outcome.

The most common types of acne scar treatment include chemical peels, skin needling, laser skin resurfacing, dermal fillers and microdermabrasion.

Treatment for Severe Acne and Acne Scarring in Teenagers

Acne is a very common skin disorder, especially among adolescents. There are a number of treatments for acne and acne scarring, but one must realise that it takes at least two weeks before any effects of treatment are observed.

Acne can be responsible for low self-esteem and increase the fear of rejection by peers.
