Quick weight loss may not decrease body fat percentage. Slower healthy weight loss with fat burning exercises and less carbohydrates helps to lose body fat.

When people start to achieve good results with healthy weight loss, they may not realise that the degree of fat burning isn’t as much as they think. It is one thing to lose weight, but it is something else to burn body fat.

It is understandable that once a person wants to lose weight, he or she may be inclined to seek fast weight loss methods. Obviously, this is because the individual wants to look and feel better quicker. However, a change in their body fat percentage may be frustratingly imperceptible.

Quick Weight Loss and Reducing Body Fat Percentage

If people desire to burn body fat, they may be surprised to know that quick weight loss, despite achieving relatively pleasant results, might not scale down body fat percentage. Ironically, fast weight loss may actually lead to an increase of the same. This is because quick weight loss often involves a significant loss of water and other fluids in the human body and not necessarily body fat.

This is because the body’s choice fuel is carbohydrates rather than fat. The fluids lost are those belonging to cells and, unfortunately, in a lot of cases are just as easily retained again once an existing diet plan is halted.

Fitness, Fat Burning Exercises and Lowering Body Fat Percentage

When a person’s body has been used to running on carbohydrates for the whole life of the individual, it is little wonder that that person cannot burn body fat as the one and only fuel source. Thus, body fat percentage remains about the same, regardless of small or large body weight loss.

Marathon runners and other athletes have managed to reverse the process. That is, they tend to burn body fat significantly more than carbohydrates. Such a remarkable achievement does not happen overnight. To lose body fat, one requires an ample supply of oxygen to muscles, especially if fat burning is to be perpetual.

The reason why athletes tend to find the lowering of body fat percentage virtually effortless is because their training has strengthened the capillaries. These blood vessels help to carry oxygen to the muscles, which in turn burn body fat.

Reaching the same standards as them can be a highly frustrating and tedious process, particularly for those individuals who prefer results as soon as possible through quick weight loss. Fat burning exercises need to be varied and rotational, lest fitness develops and body fat percentage remains hardly altered or constant.
